Eliciting and Managing Requirements is designed for individuals responsible for doing just that—eliciting requirements from users and stakeholders and managing those requirements throughout solution development.  The course looks at the processes around solution scope validation, collaborative elicitation, modeling the solution, documenting effective requirements, solution validation, requirements change management, and how to plan the work necessary to successfully drive the whole process.

This course covers in-depth knowledge and skills necessary for data analysis for business intelligence. The course provides a foundation or refresher in analytics, including opportunities to practice data preparation, integration, statistical analysis, and presentation techniques using Microsoft Excel. With an eye to emerging applications for business problem-solving, the course incorporates data management principles and real-world analysis scenarios so participants can practice using software to collaborate and perform the most relevant analyses.



In this series of videos, subject matter experts from CTP’s Office of Science discuss the basic science of various tobacco products. Tobacco products covered include cigarettes and smokeless tobacco  and other products regulated by FDA under the Final Deeming regulation issued in 2016. 

This course is designed to help participants “lift the fog” that all too often shrouds NEPA, the first major environmental law in the United States.  Participants for this training generally include managers, responsible officials, and staff who need to understand NEPA knowledge and prepare and approve the NEPA documents.

 

Training Objectives

 

With some limited exceptions, all Federal agencies, including FDA, in the executive branch have to comply with NEPA before they make final decisions about federal actions that could have environmental effects.  Participants in this training would learn the concepts and requirements of NEPA. They will also explore how to write a “perfect” Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessment (EA), and Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI).

Participants will learn:

  • Describe the purposes of NEPA
  • Describe the Council on Environmental Quality’s regulations.
  • Identify key NEPA terms, including major federal actions, “significant,” Categorical Exclusion (CE), environmental assessment (EA), Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), Records of Decision (ROD), Extraordinary Circumstances, and Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI), as addressed in case laws
  • Describe the NEPA process and where it applies
  • Define the NEPA decision-making process
  • Describe the difference between EISs and EAs, describe the considerations used to determine which process to follow: CE, EA or EIS, and the appropriate format and documentation necessary to comply with NEPA requirements
  • Define cumulative impacts, direct, indirect impact, connected cumulative impacts and associated compliance with legal minimums
  • Describe Executive Order 12114

This web-based course is designed for CTP Office of Science personnel who have little or no background in the social and behavioral sciences.
